Tree Fallin'

The annual chopping down the Christmas tree happened again this morning. Here are a few action shots. Now it's calmly sitting in our living room...all prettied up and ready for Malakai and Gideon to have fun with. Eric is lighting the first fire of the season in our wood stove as we speak. Maybe I should get my swim suit back out...it's going to get HOT in here.

Changing Seasons

My morning tea, today it was orange passion

My kitchen window

The stockings were hung with care

Maybe I can snatch a bite when Mom's not looking

Huh, did I just say that outloud?

Ahhh, she's still watching me!

Longing, drooling...

Oh, forget it!

Another beautiful sunrise at the ranch

Looking Back

Did you ever take a look at your life and were just overwhelmed with the fact that you are so blessed? This morning I took some time to browse through my website and was humbled once again by the incredible clients I have been able to work with over the past 4 years. And I didn't even update it yet with my 2009 favorite images.

63 weddings, countless babes & families, seniors, etc. How did I get the honor of meeting all of you? I am so thankful for each one of you that have entrusted special moments and days of your lives to me. I am forever changed by every single storyline. Honestly, even when I glance over your names in my contact list, certain images pop into my mind. Yes, I have given you the treasure of memories frozen in time, but you have done the same for me.

Oh the stories I could tell...wedding cakes falling over, wailing newborns with no bladder control, stubborn toddlers, rainy outdoor wedding days, finding beauty in places often overlooked, crying tears of joy behind my lens when you weren't looking. There are endless accounts I could give. But the one thing that each of you have in common is the deepest need to celebrate. Love, family growth, accomplishment, success, innocence, joy, passion...these are the emotions I want you all to remember when you look at photographs I have given to you. This is the deepest satisfaction of my job.

Many of you have become more than just clients and are interested in our family's story of adoption. We have been approved and waiting for our second baby to join our family now for about 6 weeks. There have been cases available but just not the right one for us yet. So we continue to pray and wait for Baby Martin to join us when the time is right. Some of you have asked if I will continue with photography as our family grows. I cannot predict the future, but I know that the LORD has given me a passion for this profession and already have 18 weddings booked for 2010! We have parents and two regular babysitters for Malakai on wedding days. I believe that if I am called to do this, then there will be grace to cover me in the busy season.

For now, I'm enjoying a much needed break, designing wedding albums, being a mom to a growing toddler, updating my website, editing less, laughing more, loosening my schedule, and feeling refreshed. So, thank you all for a great 2009 season. I am looking forward to another great one next year too. There are so many more memories to be made!

Weekend Get Away

My parents kept Malakai Saturday and Sunday while Eric and I had some time away to relax and refresh after a long season of weekend weddings. The night before we left, we had some family time in our recently painted basement. Saturday we went antiquing (found some fun props for photo sessions), went to a friend's 30th b-day party (Casino tables and all. Yes, I am the Black Jack champion!), saw The Blind Side, which by the way is a great movie, stayed at the Bear Creek Mountain Inn, dipped in an outdoor hot tub, and went hiking. All in one day! Then Sunday we went to a bridal show at the Marriott here in Lancaster. Yes, we went to bed at 8pm last night...same time Malakai did. We were pretty tired, but in a good way. I am thankful for Grandpa and Grandma who step in for us when we need to "refuel" for the next leg of the journey.

12 Day Portrait Special

Yes, there are 12 days of Christmas, well really only one but we all know the verses about what "my true love gave to me" leading up to Christmas. Radiant Images is running a 12 day portrait special. Yeah! Here are the details...you won't want to miss it! Be the first one to sign up and receive an extra bonus gift.

So how is your Christmas shopping going? Didn't start yet? Having trouble finding the perfect gift for that special someone on your list? Maybe I can help lighten your load. For the next 12 days only (until November 30th) I am running a portrait session special. There are two different options:

#1: If you purchase one session (60-90 minutes with proof book) you will receive a free 8x12 mounted print for either yourself (if I've done portraits for you in the past) or for the person you are purchasing the gift certificate for.

#2: 10% off the entire gift certificate balance (whatever package you choose).

You can still purchase gift certificates at any time, but this is a special deal I am running just for the holidays.

2009 was a wonderful year for Radiant Images and I am looking forward to another great one in 2010. I would love the opportunity to capture some special moments in your lives or your friends/family's lives. There are so many special occasions for pictures: newborn, anniversaries, engagements, weddings, seniors, families, growing kiddos, and the list goes on. As a mother, I know how important it is to "freeze" time through a simple photograph. It really is a timeless gift. I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving spending time with those you love most.

Happy Holidays,
Regina

Malakai's 2-year Portraits

He really does cooperate with me when I'm taking his pictures. He even smiles and says, "CHEEEEEEEEESE!" without me really asking him. I guess that's what happens when your mommy is a professional photographer. A lot of you ask how I get him to do certain poses, well...I do have the privilege of "pushing" him a bit more since he is my son. His birthday isn't until Dec. 17th, but the weather was just too beautiful not to do it now before it gets too cold. We had a blast and the tractor in the nearby field (which happened to be spreading stinky manure) helped to keep his attention span longer. Here he is...my beloved Malakai Grant. He really does take after his Daddy's smile!
