Micah Evan

It was an extra Happy Thanksgiving Day for Zack & Ashleigh as they welcomed their son, Micah into the world. I met him on Monday for the first time at only 11 days old. A handsome young lad, he is. I'm always amazed at how infants want to be awake at all of the exact opposite times that you want them to be. He decided to skip his nap and be awake for a good portion of the photo session. After his bottle he did zonk out and was more restful. Zack & Ashleigh, I can tell that he is the apple of your eye and you are wonderful parents already. Meet the newest kid on their block...

Brubaker Family Christmas

Some family traditions are meant to last forever. The Brubaker family has always celebrated holidays together. Christmas being the most looked-forward to and memorable one for me. Although it's not held at my grandparents' home anymore, we still can all (30+) fit in my Uncle Steve & Aunt Betty's house. We had turkey, and a whole list of other goodies, topped with my Grandma's pecan pie (which far surpasses mince meat any day!) and other desserts. Then we played a fun game of now you have it, now you don't as our gift exchange. This year, the kids made t-shirts which was fun for us adults to help out with too. I always look forward to connecting with my cousins. Not all of us can always be together since we are so spread out over the globe. Costa Rica, Washington, Oregon, Ohio, and State College, etc. I am blessed to still have both of my grandparents in my life. They are very special to me and I love that Malakai has a chance to know his Great Grandpa and Grandma.

Winter Wonderland

Saturday afternoon, the first snowfall of the season left a light blanket over our little nest. When Malakai woke up we all went outside for some fun in the white stuff. He LOVED it and was running around in his marshmallow outfit. Gideon, like always, is extra bananas when it snows. He tears around like he's a greyhound, eating snowflakes, tirelessly catching snowballs, almost knocking us all over, and then making yellow snow. Ahh yes, we finally have some space to enjoy the winter wonderland. No digging out a parking space, no setting up buckets or lawn chairs to reserve them once the digging is done, no dirty snow or icy sidewalks...just a garage to pull in to, a wood stove to stoke, and a long driveway to plow. We really could get snowed in for real.

Morning Walk

This morning I took Gid and Malakai down to visit Franky and Homer. Yes, those are the names of the donkeys who lives nearby. This time I took some carrots along for Malakai to feed them. He was very excited to do so. Gideon was so excited that I had to tie him to a fence post so he wouldn't knock us all over. It's hard to believe they are calling for snow on Saturday...it's almost 60 degrees today!
