Giggles...Bubbles...Joy
As of last night, the corn is all chopped down around us. Feeling "naked" without it this morning. The boys watched the chopper until it finished and then we got out the bubbles and they were giggling with delight. As I look at the two of them together, I can't help but wonder what it will be like for them to both be big brothers to a little sibling very soon. Malakai can hardly wait (I'm in that same boat) and Isaac of course is clueless. Today is my mom's 60th birthday and one week from my due date. She would be honored to share it with Baby Martin!

You Been Farmin' Long?
This is what I saw when I looked out on the porch a few moments ago. I think they've been out there for at least 30 minutes jabbering and mimicking with their toys whatever they see happening in the fields. It's corn chopping time. Last night after it got dark, the chopper came out with the tractors and wagons following close behind and we woke up Malakai to watch with us. Probably not even going to try for a nap for him this afternoon as he's busy "working in his fields". I love watching him and Isaac's delight in big farm equipment. There are still simple joys in life to be enjoyed!

And It Begins...
It's that time of year once again. Time to set the alarm, eat breakfast a little quicker, and strap on the back pack. Malakai begins his second year of preschool today and he couldn't be more excited. Time to get out of the house and be with his friends and learn some new things. Isaac is going to wonder what happened now that he isn't going to be with big brother 24-7, but then again...baby dear will be making an appearance any day now so he'll have plenty to think about.

Mom Turns 60
There were 15 of us standing in the kitchen last night when she walked in and dropped her jaw. We got her good. Her birthday is still two weeks away, so it was even less suspected. It's tradition in the Brubaker family to open 60 gifts from the entire extended family on your 60th birthday. 50th birthdays were celebrated in the same manor. No two gifts alike and they came from all over the U.S. I'm so thankful we could celebrate mom's life together with our family. She is one incredible blessing to all of us.

Crankin' It Out...
She's 91 and still loves to help with canning. I won't turn down her help. Grandma's hands have made a lot of applesauce and other canned goods over the years. Today her, my mom and I made 40 quarts. I'm hoping to hit my goal of 60 by the end of tomorrow. That seems to be the right number for our family for a year's supply. So with 3 weeks until my due date, we are stocked up on food for the winter. And now, I will go prop up my swollen feet...

On the Tracks
We took our last big outing as a family of four to the Strasburg Railroad. Malakai was so giddy he could barely stay in his train seat. Isaac pointed and waved at every cow and person we passed. Last time I was on this ride I was about 14 weeks pregnant with Isaac. 36+ weeks pregnant feels a whole lot different on a rocky train car. Seeing the pure delight in my little boys' eyes was worth the short discomfort of the adventure. And of course, some ice cream afterwards was helpful.
