Longing Fulfilled

I remember it so clearly. It was Malakai's 3rd birthday when I got the call from my dear friend, Livi. "Well, I have some exciting news! Our profile was just selected by a birth mother due in mid January!" I think I probably made her deaf in one ear as I yelled ecstatically with joy because the wait was finally over! The 19-month wait, to be exact. Jer & Livi were praying for the right baby to join their family through adoption and what an amazing testimony to God's faithfulness and His perfect timing, their sweet son, Micah Benjamin is.

Born on January 14, him and my little Isaac aren't even 3 weeks apart in age. How appropriate that the two of us women would have our longings fulfilled within weeks of each other. That's our God! Even as I write, tears sting my eyes as I realize once again what a miracle every life created is. Children are such a gift. Adopted. Biological. Red. Brown. Yellow. Black. White. They are precious in His sight.

Jer & Livi, I can't even begin to tell you how much joy it brings to my heart to watch you loving on your little Micah. Your gift from God. Your hope fulfilled. I know he feels secure in your love for him as I watch him break out in contagious smiles every time I see him. May you always celebrate his life and may you always love the God who brought him to you.

Miller Family

Karen loves pictures. She took hundreds of shots while the kids were growing up, carefully documenting each important event as well as the regular activities of their daily lives. Every birthday, the first day of school, piano recitals, sporting events, goofing around with siblings, working on the family's dairy farm. The kids admitted to often complain when Mom brought out her camera because that meant they had to stop and smile. (This may be my kids' attitude some day too!) However, now they have begun to appreciate her collection of photos. They laugh and reminisce as they page through the albums or look at old slides with the projector.

The Miller's love to play games, share meals together, make campfires, and spend time at mom and dad's house. Their love for each other is very obvious and I hope that our kids are as good of friends some days as these four siblings seem to be.

Summertime Eatin'

If you're going to do a Daniel Fast (just fruits and veggies) now would be the ideal time to do it. Our little garden of grape tomatoes, squash, lettuce, onions, and carrots is exploding! Every meal seems to be from our small patch of earth which feels really satisfying. Mom and Dad have cucumbers, green beans, and sweet corn that we've been enjoying as well. This was Malakai's first try at eating off corn on the cob and he's a big fan. Pretty sure it's on tonight's menu again. And peaches...we've been sampling them from Mom and Dad's trees on our property. Isn't summer eating the best?! So thankful for fresh produce just one step outside my door.

Sawyer: Senior

Some things you should know about me:

-I throw baseballs...a lot, even though pitching is hard on my shoulders, I still greatly enjoy it

-The mandolin and I got acquainted about five years and my fingers have some nice callouses

-My family has a beautiful farm in York County where I live and work

-Groundhogs are no match for me and my hunting skills...deer don't stand a chance either

-One of my dreams is to go to guide school and become a big game hunting guide out west

-I’m seriously considering attending Bible College in Oregon after graduating from high school
