Well, it's official...the wedding season has begun! There will be many more wedding day posts throughout the spring, summer, and fall so enjoy viewing all of the different people I get to meet and places I get go. It is exciting to get back into the swing of things. I'll admit, it takes a lot more organization to make sure that Gideon, our chocolate lab, is taken care of and that Malakai has a babysitter for the day. Lots of you have been asked to babysit and no one seems to want to turn down the offer! That is so helpful and puts my mind at ease, just knowing my son is taken care of and in good hands. It's wonderful to be able to focus on my job instead of worrying about my son.
Last Friday afternoon, Eric and I did an outdoor wedding in the Hershey Gardens. It was gorgeous. Every couple of months, they fill the garden with seasonal flowers. Well, of course tulips are blooming like crazy right now. There was every color of tulip imaginable in perfect rows. They told us that in a few weeks they will rip out all the tulips and plant annuals for the summer. Definitely no small job!
I met John and Lisa back in the fall when I did their engagement portraits. They have a lot of energy and the day was a lot of fun for me. We started out doing prep shots at one of Lisa's friend's house. It was relaxing to be in the comfort of someone's home instead of a church nursery for a change. When it was time to head to the ceremony, Lisa realized she didn't haven anyone to drive her and her children there. She asked if I could drive John's Denali. "Sure, no problem," I said.
Now...for those of you who aren't familiar with vehicle names, the Denali happens to be a huge suburban. Eric was really jealous that I got to drive it. I felt like I was driving a submarine! No pressure or anything...I'm just transporting the bride, her two children, and John's daughter all to the wedding, in a massive truck-like machine! It's funny all the different hats I sometimes wear during a wedding...photographer, wedding coordinater, driver, counselor, etc. People really entrust me with their lives that day.
The ceremony was attended by 30-40 family members and then followed by a wonderful meal at the What If Cafe in Hershey. John & Lisa, I am excited to see what God does in your lives as you learn to blend yourselves and your children into one family. I know that you have been given all that you need to raise this family together. You are wonderful parents to Holly, Hayden, Lindsay, and John Allan. Your love for each other is evident and it was such a privilege to be a part of your lives for one day! Blessings on you both as you make a fresh start.
