They met in 9th grade but weren't so much into each other right away. Some things just take time. Matt thought she was a little high strung and over the top. He even stated, "If someone told me that I had to marry Julie, I'd say, NO WAY!" Meanwhile, God was busy silently changing their hearts and doing what only He can do. In 10th grade, they became good friends and ended up finally dating during their senior year of high school. They maintained a long distance relationship during Julie's college years and Matt staying around home to work. June 11, 2005 they became husband and wife. They are the proud parents of two handsome little boys, Luke who is almost 3 and Joel, 10 months.
I asked them why they decided to do this 5-year anniversary photo session with me. It's not every day that a bride gets back into her wedding dress after years of not wearing it. Their answer was so genuine and one I won't ever forget. They shared with me that in the last 5 years of marriage, they have grown to love each other more now than the day they were married. They have seen the importance of continuing to "date" one another and make time for just "us". They felt like having this photo session would rekindle the spark of the wedding day. They want to always remember how important their relationship is because they know that it pleases the LORD and gives their children security to see mommy and daddy loving each other.
I had so much fun with this couple. We dodged some raindrops from a passing thunderstorm, got a little muddy, ate some bugs and stepped in some thistles, but what's a photo session with Regina without a little adventure? I was blessed to be able to do this for you both and am excited to see all that God has for you in the future. And a big thank you to Uncle Lamar and Aunt Ruthie for allowing us to use your gorgeous property for a few hours!
Meet the experienced newlyweds, Matt & Julie...
