Well, we made it, but not in flying colors. Camping for two nights with a 3 year old with lots of energy and an 8 month old who just starting crawling. Need I say more? It's worth it, right? Our dear friends, Marvin & Dori and their 10 month old son, Brennan braved the holiday weekend with us, like tradition. Except last year, Dori and I were both pregnant and Malakai was doing less running and jumping. We had some good campfire conversations, ate lots of camping treats (mountain pies, breakfast on the fire, marshmallow goodness) and laughed more than we cried. I think anyway. Being in the woods is always refreshing to my spirit. Even if no one naps and wails loud enough for the whole campground to hear and our dog comes along for all the memory making. Monday morning it poured so we had a quick breakfast and packed it up. Our tent and tarps are still outside "drying" after 3 days of non-stop rain. They've become our yard ornaments for the week. My father-in-law said he dumped out 8.5 inches of rain from his gauge so far and I think there is a lot more in store. Ah yes, high ho, high ho, a campin' we shall go...
